Excessively intrigued by fragility and
mutability of the individual, the production of nearly
every work of Ruveanne Gerrissen starts of with a character
residing in a state of emergency. The subject matter of her
work is usually based on fears and other emotions.
This can portray a reaction on lovesickness,
or less complicated basic emotions as
anger or sorrow.
“But when is the interchange of the emotional into the physical
and when does the physical altered into the emotional?
It is a vicious circle.
Pain can start on any given moment and can adopt an
arbitrary course.”
There are many realities.
One must adapt
You must accept the fact
others do not see what you see.
She tries to create a situation where her viewers can experience the
work individually, hereby she tries to initiate a particular
solidarity between the viewer and her work; the viewer is
in a vulnerable state, but is in the safe hiding place of his own soul.
As a result the dialogue between her work and it’s viewer can commence.
